Weekly Recap

  • The Oiler Band and Colorguard competed at Bolsa Grande HS on Saturday, and again earned high percussion and high auxiliary awards, and also got 2nd place overall. Congratulations to everyone! We now push on to finishing the rest of our show, and preparing for the next competition @ Gahr HS on Nov 7th.

  • We also performed at Thursday's HBHS Varsity Football Game. Students did an amazing job performing our competitive show for the home crowd!

2026 March-A-Thon Week 1 Update

We're one week into our 2026 Oiler Band March-a-Thon, and we've already raised $2,620 toward our $10,000 goal! March-A-Thon Donation Link

Last Wednesday, students who completed their fundraising worksheets sent out emails to friends and family asking for support during class. While only a small percentage of students participated in this first round, we've still managed to raise $2,600 for the program! It's a great start and shows how successful this fundraiser could be with more students involved.

We're planning another round of emails this Wednesday, October 28, mainly for students who haven't participated yet. If your student hasn't completed their worksheet, please encourage them to gather at least 10 email addresses of extended family members, family friends, neighbors, and others who might be willing to support our program. No need to write it down on the worksheet I gave them...they can write it down anywhere and bring that list to class.

I'll also be sending out information soon about how parents can help spread the word, including sharing the fundraiser on social media and with their own networks.

Thank you to everyone who has participated so far! We're off to a great start, and I'm excited to see what we can accomplish before Championships on November 21!

Biggest Fundraiser of The Year... CSBC Champs!!!

In case you haven't heard, our biggest fundraiser of the year is on Nov 21st, 2026. About a month away! We raise about a quarter of the yearly Oiler Music Guild budget in a single day, thanks to all of the student and parent help to make it happen.

Hosting Champs is a huge honor, and we have a strong tradition of receiving high praise from CSBC for the way we run this event. We want to continue that tradition, but we need YOUR help to make it happen!

Here’s how you can help:

  • Volunteer: There are many ways to contribute throughout the day. Please sign up for a shift that works for you (I have included all of the volunteering links below in the next section).

  • Step into a leadership role: We still need a few more chairpersons to help lead key areas of the event. If you're willing to take on a leadership position, we would love to have you!

  • Save the date for your student: Participation in Champs is required for all student musicians, so please make sure both you and your student are available on November 21.
