Program Updates

Banquet Tickets Are On Sale Now

Our end of year banquet is on June 4th, 2026 @ First Christian Church in Huntington Beach. Tickets are $35 per person and everyone attending must have a pre-purchased ticket, including students.

AP Testing Reduced Schedule

AP testing at HBHS is starting this week, so we will have a slightly reduced schedule for after school Jazz Band rehearsals. Please check the schedule at the end of this post. Good luck to everyone who is taking an AP test!

Oiler Music Guild Booster Meeting This Thursday

Please join us on Thursday @ 7pm in the Band Room for our next Oiler Music Guild Booster Meeting. You can also join us on zoom...keep a lookout for a zoom link sent via email in the next couple of days.

We'll be going over important end-of-year details, banquet planning, etc. So please join if you are able!

Family Contributions

We have already began to plan for next year's marching band production, upcoming concerts, hiring (and re-hiring) of staff members, and purchasing new instruments and equipment for our students to play on. As we plan for these things, we have to take into account what we have raised through fundraising and family contributions.

While our Band Champs fundraiser was a huge success, we only had about 50% of families pay their contributions for Marching Band, and close to 0% for the Spring Ensembles (wind ensemble, drumline, and jazz band).

Because of this, we unfortunately have to begin considering difficult decisions for next year, including reducing the number of amazing specialists we re-hire to work with the students, re-think the type of marching band show we can afford to have written, and cutting back on instrument repairs and maintenance.

As a reminder, the school district only pays for my salary as a teacher. They do not fund uniforms, sheet music, instruments, supplies, specialists, or the many other things that our incredible boosters have made possible.

Please make your family contribution for the ensembles your student is participating in, so we can continue to offer a high-quality, and student-centered music program.

Also, if you did not make your 1st Semester Marching Band Family contribution, please consider still that Marching Band Family Contribution Payment.

If you have any questions, please reach out to our treasurer, Jeremiah Hewitt, at hewitt78@gmail.com.
