Program Updates

Updated: Nov 13

Congratulations to the Oiler Band on an extremely strong 3rd place finish at San Clemente HS on Saturday! We jumped up almost 10 points from last week, were only 1 point away from 1st place, and the band placed first in the General Effect category. Congrats everyone!!

Update!

This weekend's competition has been cancelled due to the incoming weather. We will not be competiting or rehearsing on Sat, Nov 15th.

Parent To-Do Checklist

  1. OVERDUE: Pay family donation for Marching Band by clicking the link.

  2. Please volunteer in one of the following ways below 👇🏻 Click on the links to sign-up.

    1. CSBC Champs at HBHS! (11/27) - We are less than two weeks away! Please sign up for a shift now so we can pre-plan the day as best as possible.

    2. Here are all of our volunteer opportunities if you'd like to plan ahead.

2025 CSBC Championships

Another reminder, we will once again be hosting the California State Band Championships @ HBHS on Nov 22nd! Less than 2 weeks away.

This annual event is our program's biggest fundraising source. We make about a quarter of our entire annual budget from this single day.

We Need Our Amazing Parent Volunteers Again

We cannot pull off an event of this magnitude without the help of every single band family. This is another important event for our program, and most importantly the students who benefit from its success.

We'll need help staffing a variety of roles (like parking, concessions, ushering, grilling, etc), and we'll also need plenty of donations like drinks and baked goods to sell at concessions.

Volunteer sing-ups are now live here. Job descriptions can be found there as well. Our biggest need is in the evening, and helping clean up after the competition is over. Please consider signing up for one of those shifts if you are available!

***Please remember all marching band families need to volunteer 25 hours each year. This is a great way to knock out a lot of those hours in a couple shifts!***

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out: afloyd@hbuhsd.edu

Wow, there's only two weeks left in our 2025 Marching Band season! Let's finish the year on a strong note!

CIF Play-Off Football Game This Friday, 11/7

HBHS Varsity Football made CIF Play-offs!

This Friday, we will be performing at the HBHS Varsity Football game @ HBHS. The game is against Edison, and Edison is actually the home team. So we will be playing in the away stands, and won't perform at half-time or do our pre-game routine. We will also not be in uniform. But we will still be there to cheer on the team!

No volunteers are needed since we won't be doing uniforms or a concessions stand. But please still come out to support our students and the team!

Next Oiler Music Guild Booster Parent Meeting This Thursday

This Thursday, Nov 6th at 7pm

Please plan on coming to our next parent meeting this Thursday @ 7pm in the M-Building Band Room. We will be discussing some important updates about hosting champs so please attend! We will also be sending out a zoom link later in the week.

ree

Congratulations to everyone on a very successful performance at University HS this past Saturday! We put our 3rd movement on the field, and we were able to show off our production for the second time in competition. The day went extremely well, thank you for everyone's help!

This week we travel to Bolsa Grande HS on Saturday. Please come and support your students! Find info on parking, admission cost, etc, here. Note: the competition is hosted by Edison HS's boosters, but the event is at Bolsa Grande HS. I didn't want to anyone to be confused looking at seeing Edison on the webpage.

Thank you!
