APA Orchestra
The Academy for the Performing Arts (APA) Orchestra provides students with a chance to develop not only their musical talents but also explore their love of music while learning life-long skills such as team building, discipline, communication and perseverance. Participation in this program is acceptance into the APA program through an audition. This is year long class with a grade each semester ( not just an extra-circular activity).

APA students perform in several concerts throughout the year including Sounds of the Season, Chamber recitals, Fanfare, concert at the Segerstrom Performing Arts Center, and more. Then qualified students are chosen to be in the pit orchestra for APA Musicals.

Students must have the appropriate attire including a black dress shirt, blouse and/or tuxedo shirt. Along with black pants or skirt.

What's happening with APA Orchestra?
What to Expect
Each section and the entire Orchestra holds rehearsals several times throughout the week all year long. Make sure you're signed up to receive our weekly email for details. The schedule will change depending upon the upcoming concerts. This is an extremely fun program for teens that love music!
A specific outfit is required for all performances including black skirt or pants, tuxedo or black top.
Students interested in Orchestra must apply and audition for the APA program. This is done through the www.HBAPA.org in January and any student in the HBUHSD can apply. Each student can major or minor in Orchestra or combine it with other specialties in APA or our music program.
Need Parent Volunteers
We ask each family to commit to helping at least 25 hours of volunteer time each year. There are plenty of opportunities- such as selling tickets, transportation, selling telegrams, ushers, and more.
Please reach out to us to sign up to volunteer. APA Dues are required each year to APA $625 approx
Pit Orchestra
Two major APA musicals are held each year, one in the fall and one in the Spring. Our staff will chose certain students to participate in the Pit Orchestra. These students perform in every performance of each musical, which is above the usual class time.

OMG Needs You!
We know that APA expects 25 hours from each family, but OMG is your Guild! The events which OMG hosts, whether it is for Band, Color Guard or Orchestra, bring in funds for all of our programs. That means we expect all of our families, regardless of program, to help out across each of our 3 supported programs. Check out what's happening on our Group Sign Up Page.
