Sept 21st, 2026 Band & Colorguard Notes
Weekly Recap!
We have learned all of the drill for Movement 1, which means nearly half of our marching band show is now on the field! Our focus is shifting toward cleaning the drill and building consistency as students work to confidently march and perform their music at the same time. Students should continue reviewing the show’s count structure at home so they arrive at rehearsal prepared and ready to make progress.
On Friday, we had our first football game in full uniform, and everything went great! The band performed a couple of tunes during halftime for the first time, and cheered on the football team as they earned their fifth win of the season. It was a great night for the Oiler Band and an exciting first game in uniform!
Back To School Night / Parent Preview Performance
This Tuesday is Huntington Beach High School’s Back to School Night! Please join us during the 7th period time slot at 7:59 PM for a special Parent Preview Performance.
Instead of meeting in the band room, please head directly to the stadium. You are welcome to walk through the music building and take the stairs up into the stadium.
Once there, grab a seat in the home stands and enjoy a preview of the first movement of our 2026 marching band show! We’re excited to give our families an early look at what the students have been working so hard on.
Our regular Tuesday night rehearsal will continue after the performance and conclude at 9:00 PM. As a reminder, students are typically ready for pickup closer to 9:15 PM on Tuesday nights after putting away their instruments and equipment.
We hope to see you in the stands on Tuesday night!

Attend Back To School Night / Parent Preview Performance on Sep 22nd.
Please make these overdue payments:
HBHS Transportation Fee - (This is paid directly to HBHS ASB to cover our bus transportation throughout the year.
Instrument Rental Fee - (For those renting school instruments. It helps us cover the cost of maintenance and repairs)
Marching Band Shoes and Undershirt - (Is your student a rookie this year? If so, your student was provided these at the beginning of the year. Please make sure you have paid for them.
OVERDUE: Complete the Registration Forms at the end of the handbook. These need to be emailed to Mr. Floyd ASAP.

5:45-6pm Marching Band BTSN performance (Marching Band will be playing some pep tunes for all parents in the quad as they arrive for Back To School Night)

7pm Band Parent Preview Performance in Stadium
