Oct 6th, 2025 Band Notes

It's competition week! This week we prepare for our first Marching Band Competition on Saturday at Costa Mesa HS. Many of our students are also preparing for APA's Shrek musical, so students have a busy week. Please make sure students are getting as much rest as possible and eating well/staying hydrated!



Saturday's Competition @ Costa Mesa HS


This Saturday is our first competition of the year, where we will be performing the first half of our competitive field show, "Noir". The students have put so much effort into their show and we are excited to show it off in competition!


A few competition reminder for parents:

  • Please send your student with money for lunch at seacliff (or a packed lunch), and money for concessions while watching the other bands in the evening. Also please make sure they have a jacket for the evening after we perform! It will get chilly.

  • Students need to bring their black undershirt with them in the morning. We have had many students forget theirs for the football games, so please help make sure your student has theirs.

  • If your student is in APA's Shrek, your students will be transported back to the HBHS right after we perform.

  • Please come watch your students perform! Please plan on getting there early. Even if you get there a few minutes before 4:54pm, you most likely won't be allowed into the stands and will need to watch from the side. I would plan on getting there by 4:30pm at the latest.   • 6-9pm Marching Band Rehearsal (non-Shrek kids)


Wednesday, Oct 8

  • 1:41-4:30pm Marching Band Rehearsal


Friday, Oct 10

  • 1:41-4:30pm Marching Band Rehearsal


Saturday, Oct 11 (Competition @ Costa Mesa HS!)

  • 9am-12:30pm Morning Rehearsal @ HBHS

  • 12:30pm - Load trucks/change

  • 2:10pm - Leave HBHS

  • 2:30pm - Arrive @ Costa Mesa, warm-up

  • 4:54pm - Perform!

  • 5:10pm - Shrek students leave for HBHS

  • 8:45pm - Awards

  • ~10:15pm - Dismissed

    1. Competition @ Costa Mesa HS (10/11) - We need help with chaperones and most important, we need another truck driver for our equipment truck. If you can please help drive the truck, please volunteer! You also get a free ticket to the see our performance!

    2. CSBC Champs at HBHS! (11/27) - We are still a couple of months away, but it's our biggest fundraiser of the year and we need every family's help! Please sign up for a shift now so we can pre-plan the day as best as possible.
