First Drumline Competition 2/28!
This Saturday, Indoor Drumline will travel to their first competition at Martin Luther King High School. Even though this competition is a bit far away in Riverside, please come support your students! Here are a couple of things to know for these competitions:
They day starts much like a marching band competition day...we'll meet to change and load the equipment trucks, but we will travel to the competitions via parent volunteer cars. Once we arrive at the show site we will unload the trucks, warmup in the lot, and then perform in the high school's gym.
Students should eat a healthy meal before meeting at the school Saturday afternoon, and please send them with a bit of concessions food money so they can buy some food before/after their performance.
Some of these competition days are going to be long days! Please plan on having your student text/call you when we arrive at back at HBHS. From that time, unloading the trucks usually takes 30 minutes and students can be picked up then. Please bear with me as I put dismissal times as it is difficult to estimate how long awards and traveling back to HBHS will take. Please don't pick your students up early! Students are all expected to help unload the equipment truck so that we can all go home as early as possible.
Please come watch their first performance! More info like the site address, ticket costs, etc can be found here.
Stay tuned for a link to volunteer in the next couple of days.
Please email me if you have any questions at all! afloyd@hbuhsd.edu
2026-2027 OMG Board Member Position Availability
We are in the process of recruiting for next year's OMG Board Members! Here are the following positions needing to be filled:
VP of Orchestra
VP of Band
VP of Colorguard
Assistant Treasurer
All of these positions co-lead with someone else so don't worry, you will have a fellow parent with some experience able to show you the ropes.
In recognition of the time and talents volunteered of our Board Members, a 20% rebate
of dues paid for all of the programs your child is involved in throughout the year is being
offered! This can really add up for those families who have children in multiple groups
and events throughout the year (i.e. marching band, drumline, color guard, jazz band).
Please reach out to Sara Sprague, OMG Board Parliamentarian at (310) 406-5912 if you are interested.
Next Oiler Music Guild booster meeting, March 5th
On March 5th at 7pm we will have our next Oiler Music Guild parent booster meeting. Please mark your calendars and attending in person in the band room, or online via zoom. We'll be discussing important info like upcoming fundraisers, end-of-year banquet planning, volunteering opportunities, upcoming concerts, etc.
A zoom link will be sent out next week.
