Welcome to another exciting year for the Huntington Beach Oiler Band and Colorguard! Please read below for info about the upcoming season and things that need to be completed before band camp starts.


Parent To-Do Summer Checklist


  1. Review the 2025-2026 Oiler Marching Band Handbook.

  2. Complete the Registration Forms at the end of the handbook. See Checklist below.

  3. If your student was not in band last year, please make sure you have communicated with me that your student will be participating in band camp and band at: afloyd@hbuhsd.edu


*Remember that every student needs to have a physical completed. Please do not wait to get this done. The earlier the better!

4th of July Parade Recap


We had another great performance in the 2025 Huntington Beach 4th of July Parade! Between band, colorguard, and cheer we had about 160 performing members. Thank you to all of the parents that made this day happen. It wouldn't have been possible without snack and drink donations, drivers for equipment and kids, parade walkers helping kids stay cool and hydrated, and more.

SAT/ACT Testing


As you start registering your students for SAT and ACT tests, please register on dates that do not conflict with band events. I've compiled the dates given for the tests.


2025 SAT Test Dates

Aug 23rd, 2025 (Registrate by Aug 8th)

Sep 13th, 2025 (Registrate by Aug 29th)

Oct 4th, 2025 (Registrate by Sept 19th)

Nov 8th, 2025 - Competition Day! Please do not register for this day.

Dec 6th, 2025 (Registrate by Nov 21st)


2025 ACT Test Dates

Sep 6th, 2025 - All Day Rehearsal Day! Please do not register for this day.

Oct 18th, 2025 (Registrate by Sep 12th)

We will be reaching out to each and every one of you to ask how you can help next year. Several Board Positions and Chair Positions will be available next school year and we need to get them filled! I know it seems like everything runs smoothly within the program (most of the time), but that is ONLY because of this year's INCREDIBLE Board!!!! That will NOT happen if we don't know fill these positions! Let us know how you can help and answer the call when we ask!

Seniors, most of you are likely eligible to earn both your APA Honor Cord and APA Letter (Juniors might be eligible too!). Applications are due March 15th!

Winter Guard Schedule & Updates

 

Schedule 3/10 - 3/16

 

  • WEDNESDAY, 3/12 - Class 2:00 - 5:00PM

     

  • FRIDAY, 3/14 - TBA depending on facility. Will know more Monday or Tuesday.

     

  • SATURDAY, 3/15 - 7am call time. Bakersfield regional.

     

  • SUNDAY, 3/16 - More info to come.
