Oiler Marching Band
2025 Band Camp

Welcome to the 2025-2026 Huntington Beach High School Oiler Band and Color Guard!

You are joining a vibrant organization with a proud tradition of excellence. The HBHS Marching Band and Color Guard performs at numerous football games, parades, field competitions and countless community events. This past year, our band performed in front of roughly 70,000 fans at a USC halftime show at the Coliseum!

 

Our Marching Band is perfect for any student interested in joining a fun-filled group that plays interesting and challenging music. It's the perfect way to meet new friends, and build lifelong skills, and join a community of dedicated peers.

Band Camp is a week and a half, and filled with learning new music, learning the first movement of our competitive field show, getting fitted for uniforms, and bonding with fellow band members.

What you need to do before band camp!

You must fill out the forms at the end of the 2025-2026 Band Handbook. We need those forms completed by the first day of band camp.

*You DO need to have a physical done for this class. Please get this done ASAP!

You don't need to do anything else. If your student is a rookie, please just make sure Mr. Floyd know you plan on attending band camp.

9am - Leadership Only

10:30am-12pm - Rookies + Leadership

12pm Rookie + Leadership Lunch!

1-5pm All members

5pm Parent Info Meeting

Tue, August 19th

9am-1:30pm Rehearsal

1:30-2:30pm Lunch Break

2:30-5:30pm Rehearsal

5:30-6:30pm Dinner Break

6:30-9pm Stadium Rehearsal

Band freshman should attend registration on Tuesday morning at 8am. They can then join the band once they are done. The school is aware they will coming on Tuesday regardless of last name.

How to prepare for Band Camp

Things you'll need to bring:

Athletic clothing! Students will be stretching, exercising, and doing movement that requires mobility. Please wear athletic clothing, and running shoes. No flip-flops, crocs, or boots!

Gallon or half-gallon water jug. Trust me, students will need it :)

Sun protection like sunglasses and sunscreen.

How to prepare:

Start hydrating before band camp. Students will benefit from taking care of their bodies before the camp starts.

Don't forget to work on the basics over summer. Students should be practicing over the summer and working on the basics of their instrument.

Some reminders:

Be on time!

Students usually walk over as a group to seacliff for lunch. Please send your student with lunch money or pack them a lunch.
